Meet our Women in Tech Speakers

Supriya - photo

"We must remind our young girls and women not to let mindsets get in their way - there is nothing we cannot do - we have to will it." - Supriya Bhuwalka

Supriya is the CEO of Coding and More (AI for K-12 Students).  She has a Bachelors in Math & Economics from Wellesley College. Post-graduation she worked on Wall Street at CSFB (Credit Suisse First Boston).  Upon return to India, she opened a Kumon for Math & English franchise.  As she took on this new venture she soon realized the importance of teaching children coding.  

Supriya then started to research the best coding curriculum and in her research, she discovered AI for kids. Coding and More was born!

With her beliefs in a positive attitude, a desire to learn  and empathy she continues to provide the best education possible to children.  Follow Supriya on Linkedin.

 
Lisa Cashmore

As an influential and energetic community specialist known for inspiring successful national and international relationships, Lisa builds upon over a decade of cross-sector experience helping organizations commercialize across global markets.

Lisa is the VP of Founder Services at Communitech, a Canadian organization based in Waterloo Region, Ontario that helps technology companies start, grow and succeed. Lisa is also a proud board member at the Accelerator Centre and on the Advisory board of NRC-IRAP.

In July 2021, Lisa started a new role as Managing Director of Canada's Tech Network, a national network of 27 regional innovation hubs across Canada. She was also listed as one of the top 80 women and non-binary people in Canada to follow.

 

CHRISTINE LEE (1)

Christine Lee began with Texas Systems Group in 2012 and was quickly promoted to run Operations in 2013. In this role, she defined and automated numerous processes, created standards based on ITIL service management to meet our Service Level Agreements, and led the implementation and ongoing processes of the Entrepreneur Operating System (EOS) for Texas Systems Group. In 2017 she moved to run the Finance department while continuing to lead the organization as the Integrator. In this role, Christine implemented and documented finance processes while defining and leading all departments to meet strategic short- and long-term goals.

In 2004, Christine started her career at Executive Physician Services as a receptionist and moved her way through the positions in the company to become the Office Manager. During her 8 years of employment, she helped create efficiency in internal systems, learned to manage a team of billing and insurance professionals, and consulted with medical practices to improve their processes.

Christine pursued a B.A. in International Business and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas at San Antonio and then continued to earn a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She obtained ITIL certifications in 2013 and 2017 and PMP certification in 2020.

Esra Arif Akgol

Esra brings over ten years of work experience as a Human Resources professional and strategic business partner who specializes in helping fast-growing companies that are in the midst of scaling and growing. She is skilled at providing cohesion to manage organizational change in periods of rapid growth.

Esra’s successful career can be credited to her aptitude to navigate times of transition and uncertainty with ease and calmness. With a strong background in Mergers and Acquisitions, Esra is praised for bringing her ethic of hard work, adaptability and strength to times of uncertainty. By working in Human Resources with over 30+ countries around the world, Esra also brings a solution-oriented approach and global lens to everything she does.

As a child of two immigrant parents, watching her parents weather hardships shaped Esra’s origins. The importance of higher education and hard work were always instilled into Esra at a young age. She values the significance of education and how it can positively change the trajectory of opportunity. That belief in the power of education is what drew Esra to join ApplyBoard in 2020. 

ApplyBoard’s mission to educate the world resonates with Esra’s interest in improving access to education. She is proud to work at a company with a firm solidified mission to educate the world. Since she joined ApplyBoard, Esra has helped the EdTech company manage impressive scaling as well as the many organizational changes like remote hiring and remote working. Esra was instrumental in growing our team of over 500 in 2019 to over 1,500 employees in 2021.
