tech trends 2019

As those in the industry are aware, 2018 was a huge year for tech innovation. Experts believe that trends are expected to continue in 2019. It's important to make sure that your organization is anticipating upcoming trends so that budgets and production plans are getting the best out what is becoming popular. We gathered our information from Forbes about their predictions on the top tech trends this year - you can get the inside scoop for 11 trends that we found for 2019.

1. Increased Automation

This year, there are going to be more tools and apps available that will do some work for both consumers and businesses. Automating our lives in a variety of ways allows those mindless, time-consuming tasks to be passed off.

2. A Blockchain Comeback

2018 was not the best year for this, but in 2019 we'll be able to see new applications as well as an emerging company or two. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on the edge of becoming huge, with early adopters approving and giving majority confidence. This year, AI will most likely go mainstream, while solving real problems for individuals across industries. AI won't just be popular in ads, search and self-driving cars.

3. Better Human/AI Collaboration

We couldn't escape the AI movement last year. AI is useful in programming tasks, but some firms got into trouble by giving AI too much decision-making power in the process of recruiting. With using unstructured and possibly biased data, it led to biased outcomes. 2019 might just be the year that companies will focus on getting data to be consistent and teach individuals to collaborate with AI without allowing it to have too much control.

4. Expansion of Connected Devices

There will likely be a huge growth of connected devices that will move all of us forward with a smart system for both personal and working lives. There are many signs that point to consumer and business devices this year.

5. Inclusion of Augmented Reality (AR) in Many Apps

AR has already made an impact on the market and is available with mobile devices (ex, Pokemon Go, Wayfair App, etc.). At first AR was targeting mobile devices with games/fun activities, but in 2019 we will see that AR will move into practical everyday utilization. As tech developers become more accustomed with the technical functionality and allow creativity to be shown, AR will likely be integrated into many apps in the marketplace.

6. Upgraded Cybersecurity Using Machine Learning (ML) and AI

There are already trends that are showing that the tech world is focusing on cybersecurity and keeping up with cyber criminals by using ML and AI to predict and protect against attacks. As technologies learn more and improve, businesses will be able to see a quicker, less expensive response to attacks.

7. Solutions to Tech Backlash

Last year, there was a resistance against tech. There were headlines in the media that revolved around the negative influence of technology on government, society, interpersonal relationships, etc.. But, there were many solutions ranging from proposal of alternatives, introduction to alternatives, or best practices. In 2019, we can expect to see what we use, how it's used, and how it differs from right now.

8. Merging Technology

The biggest shift in tech is going to happen in this generation. The hyped of technology; AI, ML, blockchain, and AR are all impressive in their own right. Merging these technologies will unlock a great amount of value for businesses as they become integrated in a standardized process. This then leads to productivity gains.

9. Augmented Analytics Using Natural Language

Augmented analytics utilizing natural language generation (NLG) will change how businesses, executives and data experts gather more insight into data to have a better understanding and engagement with the data. Natural language adoption to find the most important findings in a shorter amount of time will make data more accessible, and develop citizen data scientists through all the roles.

10. Growing Commitment to Data Security

2019 will also be the year for security. All companies are trying to get as much data as possible, but don't care about the security of said data. Many companies will open data security departments or even outsource it to companies that specialize in data security. But, there will still be massive data leaks during the year.

11. Higher e-Commerce Sales of Everyday Items

E-commerce is a convenient way to shop. So many people choose online shopping instead of going to a physical location. E-commerce makes it easier to check prices and saves time. We'll probably see a continuing rise in consumers purchasing online. Anything from clothes to household items that would normally be classified as an "errand" and a trip to a store will see a boost in sales online.

Hopefully these tech trends will help your business; and that you can take advantage of them.
