We would like to introduce you to Inês Garoupa.  Inês is the Marketing Lead and Office Administrator for our sister company Cyberscopic. She lives in the sunny and warm city of Lisbon, Portugal.  She has over 5 years of experience working in Marketing as a freelancer for various companies from event planning to high-performing athletes.  Although most of her placements were exciting she says she has always been a tech lover at heart.  Why Tech?  Inês has a passion for branding and digital marketing.  She loves the fast-paced environment that always keeps her on her toes!  She also loves being involved in a company's start-up and growth.

Her advice for young women who are interested in getting into tech or marketing is to always stay positive.
"Take positive actions to create a gender balance in the tech industry. Be supportive of other women working in tech. Don’t see them as a threat. Keep pursuing what makes you happy and keep your goals in mind."

Inês finds women often get imposter syndrome. Her advice is to work hard and continue setting targets to achieve their best results. "Network with other leaders in the area, be professional, speak up, and always be responsible for your actions."

She believes all employees should support gender equality in the workplace.  There should be fair workplace policies and co-workers should support and stand up for each other.  The topic of diversity and inclusion should be part of the company's policies. "It is crucial to create space for women to speak up, encourage them to share their thoughts and ideas. Close the pay gap – raises and salaries should be equitable. Make sure all employees feel good, motivated, and happy in their workplace."Ines

Many companies have come a long way in creating a fair workplace for women, however, they still have a long way to go. Inês recalls during her early professional years as a freelancer, she often worked mainly on behind-the-scenes tasks and was rarely given the opportunity to work on bigger projects. She noticed her male colleagues were often offered the bigger projects. This is why she believes it is important to distribute the work fairly and equally in the workplace.

The best professional advice she has ever received is to not take things personally and never stop learning.  Her motivation comes from her friends, family and team members. She believes in a strong support system and strives to do her best every day.
